Saturday 20 May, from 15:00 to 19:00
Free admission, make a reservation

For the project A little bit like the soul, Sijben investigates the relationship between objects and people, where the social, political and aesthetic status of the objects make us aware of our own position in society, as well as invite us to reflect on the extent to which it might be queer. Through the way we interact with, interpret and give meaning to an object, the object can turn into a catalyst for human interaction and dialogue. Sijben’s residency will consist of the Queen Clay Club workshop series, a mini exhibition with the result of the participants, and the performative premiering of Sijben’s latest film.

15:00 Doors open
16:00 Cinema: performative film premiere, with an introduction by Axel Boomgaars, city counsel member (culture) of Hoorn.
16:30 Café: Reflection on the movie by Simon van der Weele and Q & A with the artist
17:00 Drinks and soup
*During the event, the film is on view continuously until 19:00 and during our regular opening hours until 30 June.

A little bit like the soul
In their new film/performance A little bit like the Soul, Sijben rethinks the hetronormative social norms surrounding care, by means of a sculpture crafted by them. De film A little bit like the soul emerges from a sculptural performance in which four people who identify themselves as queer live together for two weeks, together with a large object Sijben has crafted. The film raises questions about care, touch, relationships, and gender and will premiere on 20 May in HMK's cinema. There will be a performance during the film and a conversation with the artist afterwards.
