Silent Song saturday January 31

Hoorn is home to descendants of Moluccan, Indo-Dutch, and Papuan communities. They carry with them family histories and stories that are closely linked to colonial heritage. To give voice to these stories, Indonesian artist Ipeh Nur will perform her project Silent Song at HMK.

An important part of Silent Song is the Kumpulan, a communal singing session that brings the local community together to share and experience the cultural and emotional significance of music. 

During the Kumpulan, you are invited to participate in a singing workshop. Together, we will explore the stories through sound and contribute to sound recordings that will be part of the installation. 

Eating together connects people, so we will conclude this session with a communal lunch that aims to connect the community and reinforce the stories.
