modedoen; thuis in jezelf zijn is a series of eight workshops at Hotel Maria Kapel, where children aged 8-12 go on a creative journey of discovery into who they are and “what suits them and what their superpowers are”, as renowned yoga teacher and children's coach Helen Purperhart says.

Niki Milioni's holistic approach to art, well-being and nature come together here in this series of workshops. The themes of self-expression, identity and authenticity are explored through games developed by the artist, in which children are encouraged to feel a positive connection with themselves - their bodies, thoughts and emotions - and make their heart desires come true.

During the workshops, she will also introduce the children to artists Taka Taka, Viola Renate, the z o m e r k a m p collective and a studio visit to local fashion designer Sepehr Maghsoudi.

The workshops were created in collaboration with Stichting Netwerk Hoorn and signing up for the workshops is managed by Fauzeia Akalai of Wijkcentrum Kersenboogerd.

Niki Milioni (b. 1989) is passionate about living in authenticity, self-expression and feeling freedom in choice. From a curious and all-recognising attitude, Niki creates, organises and facilitates spaces of learning for adults and children in which embodiment, self discovery and co-creation take central stage.

Niki practices self-developed methods derived from her studies in fashion design (BA Gerrit Rietveld Academy), community-based art and design (MA Practice Held in Common, ArtEZ), compassionate communication, various forms of yoga and meditation, and working with children in varying circumstances, such as children in need of special attention or living in asylum-seeking communities. Niki is also part of the z o m e r k a m p collective, exploring life and work in collectivity.

This project is made possible with help of: Mondriaan Fonds, Gemeente Hoorn, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Stichting Netwerk
