Ipeh Nur

Ipeh Nur was born in 1993 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and graduated from the Department of Printmaking at the Indonesian Art Institute.
“I live in Yogyakarta. My works are based on personal experiences, memories, resilience, and histories as background events. Drawing and painting remain the lifeblood and soul of my works. However, I also use various other mediums and techniques such as batik, ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, installation, video and murals. I enjoy exploring and experimenting with materials. For me, materials or mediums are not merely symbols or metaphors, but also have a connection to me personally.
Since 2019, my work has been connected to my maritime culture, looking at how knowledge has been passed down by older generations and confronting it with today's issues. The stories are often based on my open interpretation of ancient mythology.”
