SHIP OF FOOLS
Hotel Mariakapel presenteert met vreugde Ship of Fools, een tentoonstelling door de Canadese kunstenaar Swintak. In deze expositie wordt een diverse groep van creatievelingen samengebracht, waaronder de experimentele natuurgenezer Millennia Lytle, uitvinder van instrumenten Chad Jagoe, de intuïtieve timmerman/dichter Don Miller en de kunstenaars John Marriott, Olia Mishchenko en Mitzi Pederson.
De tentoonstelling bevat een groots opgezet schip, gemaakt door collectieve improvisatie met weinig kennis over schepen en hoe deze gewoonlijk gebouwd worden. Puttend uit de middeleeuwse allegorie van het schip vol dwazen ('ship of fools') geeft het schip onderdak aan werken die in de wereld van het onmogelijke duiken en een plek tonen waar kunstenaars geld te over hebben, tijd en ruimte kunnen ombuigen, moraliteit overstijgen en werkelijk alles als materiaal kunnen gebruiken. Bezoekers aan de tentoonstelling kunnen door de binnenkamers van het schip lopen en daar de individuele gedachten over het onmogelijke van elk van de kunstenaars ontdekken.
Wees welkom op de speciale doopceremonie en openingsreceptie in Hotel Mariakapel, zondag 3 mei, vanaf 16.00 uur. Een ceremoniële fles dure champagne zal op de scheepsromp worden stukgeslagen om 17.00 uur, gevolgd door een proost uitgebracht door dichter Don Miller en een muzikaal optreden van lokale gasten.
Canadese likeur van ahornstroop, speciaal gebrouwen door alchemist Millennia Lytle, en alcoholische versnaperingen en zeewaardige hapjes zijn gratis verkrijgbaar. Iedereen is welkom!

The Impossible Project:
SHIP OF FOOLS
Hotel Mariakapel is pleased to present Ship of Fools, an exhibition by Canadian artist Swintak that brings together a diverse group of creative practitioners, including experimental naturopathic doctor Millennia Lytle, instrument inventor Chad Jagoe, intuitive carpenter/poet Don Miller, as well as artists John Marriott, Olia Mishchenko and Mitzi Pederson.
The exhibition features a large-scale ship constructed through collective improvisation, with little knowledge about ships or how they are built. Drawing from the medieval allegory of the ship of fools, the ship houses works that delve into the realm of the impossible, imagining a place where artists have all the money in the world, the ability to bend time and space, transcend morality, and use anything and everything as art supplies. Visitors to the exhibition are welcome to walk through the internal chambers of the ship, exploring each artists’ individual reflections on the impossible.
Please join us for a special Christening Ceremony and Opening Reception at Hotel Mariakapel, Sunday, May 3rd, 16:00 onwards. A ceremonial bottle of expensive champagne will be smashed on the ship’s hull at 17:00, followed by a toast led by poet Don Miller, and musical performance by local guests.
Specially hand-brewed Canadian maple syrup cordial created by alchemist Millennia Lytle, alcoholic refreshments and sea faring snacks will be provided free of charge. All are welcome!
