TERRARIUM AT HMK - EVENT DESCRIPTIONS

CONSTELLATE/TOPOGRAPHY

Reclamation joins HMK at the annual Hoorn Art Fair to CONSTELLATE and BRANCH. For CONSTELLATE, visitors are invited to don white jumpsuits, choose a constellation (or invent their own), and recreate it with our bodies. For BRANCH, visitors similarly recreate shapes of the L-grammar growth pattern of trees and plants with their bodies. With your permission, we will take your picture and upload it to our website, or send us your own picture and we'll happily up load it for you.

TEA PARTY SOCIAL

Tea party social events begin at 4pm on Thursdays. The first will be held Thursday, September 9th. The events are open to the public as viewer, but encourage some type of participation. They are held to bring the community together in the polite enjoyment of arts, culture, and abject chaos. Tea and snacks will be served.

RITUAL/MUSIC

RITUAL/MUSIC is a combination of music that is traditionally perceived as religious or ritualistic (i.e. Balinese gamelan, North Indian ensemble, shape note choir) and artists/performers/curators who are adventurous enough to create site specific performances that represent, consider, or react to the concept of ritual music.

FAIR

FAIR is: Art fair. Science fair. Book fair. County fair. World fair. Trade fair. Fair world. Fair trade. Bid fair. Fair shake. Fair deal. Fair use. Fair work. Fair statement. Fair dinkum. Fair and impartial. Fair and square. Fair ball. Fair sex. Fair skin. Fair surface. Fair off. Fair to middling. Fair health. Fair weather. Fair weather friend. Fair fight. Fair play. Play fair. Fair game. All's fair in love and war… Held during the closing weekend of Reclamation's TERRARIUM at HMK, FAIR presents solutions ranging from the practical to the fantastical--designed by artists, scientists, waste managers, event organizers, and school children, among others--on how to discard the materials used for the installation in a way that is "fair." Curated by Reclamation member Kyoung Kim.

COMMITTED

A daily ritual to be performed from Terrarium's opening on September 3rd to its closing on October 3rd. Reclamation member Drew Denny will wake after two hours of rest to perform actions of worship and sacrifice.
