During their stay at Hotel MariaKapel, artists Navid Nuur and Sander Polderman will, by way of belief and disbelief, abandon themselves into the uncertainty of outcome, which is inherent in the creation of art.

While Nuur transforms thought into object, Polderman's impressions creep into the world via the flow of lines. In both of the artists work text plays an important role.

With Leap of Faith the artists explore the relationship between the monumental exhibition space of Hotel MariaKapel and their work. For Nuur that means examination into the literal space and submersion into his own text; with Polderman the relationship denotes itself in more of a social context.

Navid Nuur (1976, Teheran) investigates and alters the way in which we perceive and experience a space. The departure point being his interest in the things we unconsciously register and that which we risk not seeing at all. Employing installations, drawings and objects, Nuur attempts to create a deeper, yet visible connection between himself, the space and the viewer. His works pose as thought models.

In Sander Polderman's (1979, Dordrecht) drawings, notions or ideas arise gradually, playfully and exploratively from the work. The manual process, coupled with the personal act of handwriting form the basis form from which composure begins to become disturbed.

Navid Nuur and Sander Polderman collaborated earlier on Drawing the Line Somewhere (2007) in the Cacaofabriek in Helmond, where they sought out the limitations of the handwriting of their inner worlds.
