Exuberant and realistic future scenarios for the former Orphanage of Hoorn (NL)

Artist run space Hotel Mariakapel and housing association Intermaris Hoeksteen invite you for the first presentation of PLAZA MARIA, on Sunday 11 June at 4 pm. 

The diverse designs by artists/designers Steffen Maas, Tilmann Meyer-Faje & Mark van den Heuvel visualize possibilities for the former orphanage (where Hotel Mariakapel is also situated) as the new cultural center of the region. For the realisation of the scenarios, the research team is in residence in Hotel Mariakapel during one month. The team researches the environment and discusses the situation with experts, potential users and others involved. 

The presentation of 11 June is just the first step: until 30 July you are most welcome in the Maria chapel to leave your comments on the proposed future scenarios. These reactions will be discussed during a final symposium with experts and others, on Friday 8 September 2006 in Hotel Mariakapel (more information and invitation will follow.)

The PLAZA MARIA project formulates criteria for Intermaris Hoeksteen, the new owner of the buildings, on the redevelopment towards a new cultural center. PLAZA MARIA is supported by Hotel Mariakapel, Intermaris Hoeksteen, Mondriaan Foundation, Province of Noord-Holland and the City of Hoorn.
