During her residency at Hotel Maria Kapel, Niki Milioni gave eight workshops to children aged between eight and twelf, mostly from the Hoorn neighbourhood of Kersenboogerd. During the workshop series thuis in jezelf zijn, which was developed in collaboration with Stichting Netwerk and with assistance from Viola Renate, the participating children were inspired to take a journey with free self-expression and identity as a starting point. During these special afternoons, decorated garments, embellished mirrors and beautiful stories emerges, but above all that we witnessed the magic of creative power.

To share this magic with everyone, Niki Milioni created the publication Wenskompas in collaboration with designer Viola Renate. Wenskompas was created from her experience in working with children. During the launch of the publication on Friday, 24 March, Niki developed a special program which activates the Wenskompas through a mini-workshop: Wensfeest. With this, Niki also invites you to explore who you are and discover who you might want to be.

Niki Milioni says: ‘During the first two months of the residency, weekly making parties were organised in the chapel, for a private group of children between 8 and 12 years old, which came into being in collaboration with Stichting Netwerk. Every week, the group was buzzing with magic and creative power! And every week it was a total surprise what was going to be made. We looked for different ways to explore everyone's self in a creative way. I have long been committed to inviting and inspiring more children to experience such a creative journey.

A booklet and poster is currently being printed especially for children, bringing together the insights gained from the making parties and my own years of embodied research into 'thuis in jezelf zijn'. From this, the Wenskompas was born.

Wenskompas invites you
to actively pay attention to yourself,
to feel and perceive with your whole body,
to listen to and live from your intuition,
and to make wishes for yourself.
Wenskompas is there to inspire you
to be completely yourself,
to actively wish and dream,
to give you creative ideas, and even create a real wish party!
